Please help! Conflict between Partition Magic and Windows Vista caused a diaster
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI had ran partition magic on a vista home basic computer drive to do a partition copy. When it came up partition magic stated the sector address was incorrect or something to that effect, do you want to fix this. I answered yes and then when it opened I no longer could read the partiton that had the data on it. I need that data since that was the drive that had the original client data on it when the OS failed. Now I can not read the datas in that partition from any computer and Partition magic lists it as BAD.

I think Paragon Partition Manager should do the trick. Or even Drive Backup 9.0 trial one.
Download it from here: http://www.paragon-softwar
Install and run. Then quit and go directly to C:\Program Files\Paragon Software\Drive Backup 9.0\Program and find there stubact.log file.
Post it here.
Do not use any other tool to fix or recover yet. Let us first try to fix it. Partition Magic edited your MBR and there are still chances we could fix the sector #0.

Our company owns several tech licenses of their software (Hard Drive Manager 2009, Partition Manager 9.0 and Drive Backup 9.0) but several weeks ago I noticed this page by accident.
So I have it for personal use now =)
Very good tools should I say. Particularly Hard Drive Manager 2009 all in one.
And, I have with me USB flash drive created with HDM2009. All the tools do it and moreover WinPE2.0 can be put onto USB flash!!!! That is awesome. No problems anymore with RAID or network controllers. Adaptive Restore - migrated several systems for friends already. And it is working!

Bad news. Partition Magic is not compatible with Vista, as you unfortunately found out. There are several partition managers that are compatible with Vista: Acronis Disk Director, Partition Commander 10, Easus Partition Master, Paragon Partition Manager 10, perhaps others. I don't know if any of them will be able to correct the problem caused by Partition Magic...
