The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Errors with Partition Magic 8

Tags: partition, error, magic
I'm receiving errors while trying to resize and create partitions with my laptop's hardisk and my new external hardisk using Symantec Partition Magic 8 (PM8).

The error are:

1. "error 983: too many errors found, process halted"
I'm receiving this error while trying to resize partitions on my laptop's hardisk. I've followed a solution from EE: http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Windows/XP/Q_20557707.html, but my laptop doesn't built-in floppy. I wonder can I use my flashdisk or my new external hardisk to create and boot with the PM8's boot/rescue disk?

2. "error #1602: file table backup mismatch"
I'm popuped with this error so many time (maybe 5 time). After reading the PM8 user guide, i can't found the error (:

3. "error #10145"

From the PM8 user guide:

"Operating System Errors (over 10,000)
Any number over 10,000 indicates an operating system error. To determine the number of
the operating system error, subtract 10,000. (For example, 10,032 - 10,000 = 32) Consult
your operating system documentation for information about resolving the error."

Maybe someone knows what kind of these error are?

BTW, my laptop's hardisk (60GB) , divided into 2 partitions: C:20 GB and D:40 GB. I wanna resize the partitions so I can have C=30 GB and D=30 GB.

My new external hardisk=80GB and I wanna divide it into 4 partition (@20GB).
