Intel Pro/wireless 2100 3a
A few days ago, I decided to be brave (or stupid) and install Vista Pro on my Dell Latitude D800 even though Dell told me that Vista is not supported on the D800. With one exception, everything seems fully functional and the Device Manager looks good. That one exception is my internal wireless card. It's an Intel Pro/Wireless 2100 3a. All looks well in the Device Manager. I have the most recent drivers (but they are XP drivers). Here's my issue, when I open the "Connect to a wireless network" dialog form the list box shows my WAP, but only occasionally (even though the laptop is about 4 feet from the WAP.) When I connect to the WAP, the connection is spotty. (I often lose it.) Should I:
- Try to fake it with a different wireless card driver?
- buy a new internal wireless card (that comes with a Vista driver)?
- With my old XP install, I used the Intel ProSet software. It had a crappy UI, but it honestly did seem to give me a more robust wireless connection.
