ArcServe or Backup Exec or other?

I am looking at backup solutions.  I have installed and tested Backup Exec.  I have worked with ArcServe in the past.

We are running a Windows 2008 domain and a Windows 2003 Domain which I will integrate shortly.

I am running:

Windows 2003, Windows 2008 x86 and Windows 2008 x64 OSs
Exchnage 2007
MS SQL 2005, 2008
SharePoint 2007
A bunch of VMs under Hyper-V

If you are interested in doing backup of all Windows Servers and SQL Servers, then you can go ahead with Backup Exec.
Else you can try out Red Gate Backup if you are interested in Backup Solutions for SQL Databases alone..

I've used Backup Exec extensively for backup and restore jobs and its always does what it says it does. It's a well tested backup software from a leading supplier. I've done full server restores successfully on a number of servers and it hasn't failed yet (accept for a tape media based issue but thats unrelated)

Just to clarify - I need to backup all of our Windows Servers, SQL Servers, Sharepoint 2007 Server (1 - not farm) and one Exchange 2007.

I was really looking to see if anyone had input comparing BE and AS, or other suggestion for a suite to handle all of the servers.

Thanks fro your inout, Shaun.  Of course - there's always the old Media Failure just when you need it.

When recovering a whole server did you use IDR, or another method?

Unfortunately not always an option (we do have some customers using System Recovery from symantec, which always image based restore to dissimilar hardware), in this scenario we had to build fresh OS / Directory restore mode / restore system state etc etc . Did work fine though.
