The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Registry errors:  Primary references like "StartMenu" "Desktop" "Programs" reference missing files.

Tags: Server Busy.  This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy.  Choose Switch To to activeate the busy program and correct the problem.
I'm using Windows XP SP2 on my laptop.  I was having problems with very slow startup and couldn't find the problem.  I bought Fix-It and ran the registry fixit program, finding that numerous files had gotten unassociated from registry references.  I was able to fix all of them except the ones below.  I was afraid to change them because I didn't understand them well enough.  My computer is running MUCH better now, and the only obvious problem is that whenever I start my computer (and perhaps at other times as well, I'm not sure) I get the following error window popup.

SERVER BUSY
This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy.  Choose Switch To to activate the busy program and correct the problem.

When I choose Switch To the Start Menu pops up.

The choices Fix-It offers for reassociated the references are all something like this example for the StartMenu error:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\config\systemprofile\StartMenu
C:\Documents and Settings \LocalService \StartMenu
C:\Documents and Settings \carol \StartMenu
C:\Documents and Settings \AllUsers \StartMenu
C:\Documents and Settings \Administrator \StartMenu
C:\Documents and Settings \DefaultUser \StartMenu

****************************************************************************
MY QUESTION is this:
It looks like all the registry errors are the same sort of thing.  Which option should they be relinked to?  Administrator, All Users, DefaultUser, LocalService, or my login account "Carol"?  Also, for the registry errors (per Fix-It) that have both LocalService and NetworkService versions, should those be relinked to different files?

One quirk:  I reassociated my "My Documents" with a D: drive version of D: \Documents and Settings \ carol.  This was done years ago when I first got this laptop.  I haven't had any problems with that, although I did notice that some items got dropped into C: \Documents and Settings \carol over the years, but not enough that I cared.  The D: drive option is not available in the Fix-It drop downs.

Thanks,
Carol
