The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

IMA service doesn't start

Zones: Citrix, Plug Ins

I get the following error using MPS 3.0 and not sure how to fix it.  I also get another event view error stating that the grace period has expired and the server will not accept connections.  I tried CTX032712, CTX104239, recreating the LHC database, and looking at the registry settings to make sure the pointers for the subsystem are correct.  I'm not sure what else to do.  Thank you for your help

I've pulled some more info from the Citrix KB.  I have pulled the first 3 returns which weren't ones you had already seen.  If these don't fix it, then do another search on the Citrix KB and just put in 2147483649

Good luck,

~~~~~~~~~~~~http://support.citrix.com/kb/entry!default.jspa?categoryID=118&externalID=CTX103253&fromSearchPage=true~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Symptom
The IMA Service failed to start and the following error message appeared:
“The IMA service returned a specific error 2147483649.”
The Event viewer displayed the following event IDs:
Event ID: 3601, “Failed to load plug-ins with error 80000001h.”
Event ID: 3609, “Failed to load initial plug-ins with error 80000001h.”
Event ID: 7024, “The Independent Management Architecture service terminated with service-specific error 2147483649.”
Cause
Upgrading to a new service pack or after an attempt to restore a backup. The plug-in not loading shows as the value for CurrentlyLoadingPlugin under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Citrix\IMA\RUNTIME.
Resolution
Edit the registry and check out these two value names shown below. The plug-ins are stored in different directory if user applied MetaFrame XP, Feature Release 2 / Service Pack 2 or greater.
WARNING! This fix requires you to edit the registry. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
Before applying MetaFrame XP, Feature Release 2 / Service Pack 2:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\Ima
Value Name: Directory: REG_SZ: C:\WINNT\System32\Citrix\IMA\SubSystems
Value Name: PluginDirectory: REG_SZ: C:\WINNT\System32\Citrix\IMA\SubSystems
After applied MetaFrame XP, Feature Release 2 / Service Pack 2:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\Ima
Value Name: Directory: REG_SZ: C:\ProgramFiles\Citrix\System32\Citrix\IMA\SubSystems
Value NamePluginDirectory:REG_SZ:
C:\Program Files\Citrix\System32\Citrix\IMA\SubSystems
Verify that the location specified matches the exact location where all the plug-ins are on the disk.
IMA service requires access to TEMP dir for local system account
THe IMA service may sometimes fail with error code 2147483649. Failed to load plugins imapsss.dll, imaruntimess.dll, 80000001hIf you get an "IMA Service Failed" message when restarting a server with error code 2147483649, verify that both the TMP and TEMP environment variables point to \%SystemRoot%\temp.The local system account on the Metaframe XP server requires a temp directory in orfer to start the IMA service.
The local host cache, LHC, may be corrupt.. In this case, please refer to Document ID Function of the Local Host Cache on MetaFrame XP for details about how to recreate the LHC.
