I have Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server 4.0 and I would like to run Adobe Reader version 7.0. I have published the the Adobe Reader version 7.07 but when I try to run it under Citrix, I get some of the Citrix start-up dialogs but then part way through the start up sequence (the login sound starts to play) Citrix seem to abruptly stops and the Adobe application doesn't start. Any ideas?

I have Adobe Reader version 7.07 working as a published application in a Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server 4.0 farm. I don't recall any problems with installing it / getting it to work, although I did create a transform for it using the InstallShield Tuner 7.0 for Adobe Acrobat. http://www.adobe.com/suppo
Did you install the application in "Install Mode" or through Add/Rem. Programs?
Install Mode is enabled by executing
change user /install
from the command prompt. When you use Add/Rem. Programs it will enable install mode for you. Next thing to try is launching it from a published desktop (like mentioned above or an RDP session). If these work, try launching Acro Reader from an RDP session with the "initial application" set. Go to your RDP client, click Options, go to the Programs tab, paste in the "Program Path..." and "Start In..." (find this by going to the properties of and Acrobat Reader shortcut on your server). If it works from a desktop (published and RDP) and it works from an initial application in RDP, then you have a Citrix issue. Otherwise you have a terminal server issue...this will make it easier to troubleshoot.

This problem is "Certain applications, including Microsoft Project, may exit unexpectedly when run seamlessly on client devices with multiple monitors." and is fixed by applying the Hotfix Rollup Pack PSE400W2K3R01 - For Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 and Citrix Access Essentials 1.0 for Windows Server 2003 to the server see http://support.citrix.com/

publish a desktop and then login to that and see if you can open adobe that way (by going to Start > Programs > Adobe). You might see more error messages that way that will help point out the problem.
Also verify you can even open the program from the server console
