The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

The Citrix SSL Server you have selected is not accepting connections

Zones: Citrix, E-Commerce
Tags: citrix, ssl, server, accepting, you
I am running Metaframe XP on a Windows 2000 server. I kind of inherited this server so I don't know too much about it's history. All I know is users used to be able to connect and run published applications over the web. Currently from the private network everything works fine. When a user tries to run a published app from the internet they get "the citrix SSL Server you have selected is not accepting connections" What i did find when I investigated was that around the same time people complained, the SSL cert had expired. So I renewed it thinking that would take care of the problem. It didn't . Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

If the SSL Cert expired, You may have to download the new Cert from whatever company you renewed with, and import it back into the server. Are you using secure gateway?

Yes, I am using secure gateway. Also, the cert are self created.

Generally, When installing a server cert for secure gateway, you get it from a company like verisign or a cheaper alternative. It sounds like this is the cert that expired and will need to be reinstalled with a new non-expired one.

Ok, now I see that the cert is expired on the secure gateway. I had renewed a cert on the citrix server. I am not sure how to renew on the secure gateway. I run through the secure gateware configuation, but there are not any valid cert's on the machine. I tried exporting one from another server, but that does not work. Is there a utility to request the cert? I am only familiar with how to renew or request a cert in IIS.

You should be able to renew the Cert with whomever your company bought the cert with. They will provide you with a new Cert (comes in a file ) and you would install that into your IIS by going into IIS, right clicking Default web site, then properties, Directory security, Server Certificate, then import it in. Who originally setup the Secure Gateway for your company? That person would know the info for the certificate renewal.

Right, in IIS. The cert you renewed was probably the cert needed for the Secure Gateway which sits in your DMZ to be able to communicate back with the citrix farm in the firewalled subnets. The Secure gateway requires 2 Certificates. One is the private inside one, which you probably renewed for free via your Certificate Authority. The other one you need is the public certificate, which costs money to purchase. I deal alot with this company

http://www.instantssl.com/

If you are unable to track down your SSL Cert provider, You can just go to another one. Check out these guys. All you really need is the 79.95 Instant SSL. They will provide a cert which you import into the IIS of the Secure Gateway. They have a great support area that can walk you through this process.
