The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

New to Citrix - looking for guidance

Asked by dak11 in Citrix, Remote Desktop/Terminal Services, Windows 2003 Server

My company is looking to setup a Citrix server and recently sent me to class a few months ago to learn the basic administration of the software. Problem is that this training was 3 months ago and they've finally got around to OK'ing the purchase and a lot of the stuff I 'learned' in class has been long forgotten. So, I have a few questions I was hoping I could ask - with more to potentially come in the future.

I'm having some issues getting applications to publish correctly. Win2003 server, Presentation server 4.5, single citrix server install.

1. I've installed the program on the server and tried publishing the .exe file and the program never loads. I've since read that the install should be done from add/remove programs but when I go to do that I get the message that..

"This machine is running Terminal Services in Application Server Mode. Applications are not available to install from the network in this mode."

Did I do something wrong with the initial install?

2. Since installing the Citrix client on one of my work stations for testing purposes I also get the error message..

"Program Neighborhood Agent could not contact the server entered. This may be because the server is down, there is an error in the configuration file from the server or the details entered are incorrect. Please try again."

I've tried a few different server addresses formats along with the server IP and the error remains. I can however access some local published apps through Citrix Program neighborhood.

Any help on either or both of these problems would be greatly appreciated.
