The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Wfica32.exe client experiencing extreme lag when connected to server.

Asked by scottrill2 in Citrix

Tags: ,

Hello,

I work in my spare time for a company remotely using Citrix metaframe Server. Their server is Orlando, and I connect to it from New Mexico using wfica32.exe version 10.100.55836. it is mainly used for documents stored on their intranet and the occasional call is routed to my home phone.

I logged off on a Friday, citrix running fine no problems. I logged in Saturday and I am experiencing:

1.extreme lag, sometimes a complete lock up/hang

2.chaotic mouse movements

3.some of the keystrokes I make aren't making it into the application. For instance I'll type "lead" and only "lad" will show up.

I have spoke with the IT assigned to this area, but he has a bit of an ego. Stated that if it was the server it would be affecting everyone not just me. basically told me to reformat my hard drive.

I do not have Auto Update enabled for either windows or my firewall/av apps. So I do not see what could have changed on my computer in the slightest.

Also when I have the lag on citrix, all other internet based apps are fine. I do a little computer gaming on the side and have even launched a graphic intense online game and no lag, only in citrix.

I have ran every test on my internet connection they have at dslreports.com and all tests say my internet is great. My connection is 10Mbps Down and 3.5Mbps Up.

Unfortunately with the IT refusing to help or give me any info, I do not have alot of info to share with you.

This is what I know or suspect:

1. My client is wfica32.exe version 10.100.55836

2. I log in by going to a SSL https site that launches the wfica32.exe.

3. the remote server I believe is windows 2000. It has the old start button. Although I guess it could be server 2003 with themes turned off I don't know. After I log in connection status says something like:

Connected to server TSH****
as user ****_NT\****
Encryption Level: Basic SSL\TLS 128bit
Session Reliability; Disabled

The area that shows activity lists:

                                              Incoming                                                      Outgoing

Bytes:               incoming usually around 500,000                               outgoing usually around 200,000
Frames:           incoming usually 2-9                                                   outgoing around 20,000
Bytes/Frame:  incoming usually around 200,000                              outgoing usually around 10
Frame Errors:  never see errors here for either incoming or outgoing.

I'm obviosly pissing in the dark here especially with no help from IT, but my gut was thinking one of two things:

1. Maybe experiencing packet loss or lag in one of the hops on the way to the server.

2. Maybe something corrupt in my NT user profile stored on the server?

Unfortunately the IT wont supply me with the IP of the server so I can maybe try traceroute or something.

I am hoping to be able to talk one of the other IT's into taking a look for me.

Obviously I am not expecting a "answer" per se as I have given you a pathetic amount of info. But I will gladly give the points just for any thoughts on what might be the issue, what I can possibly do on my end, or where on the server I could have an IT look for problems.

Thank you in advance for your time.
