Delayed printing from published application

When running an Oracle based application called IFS on a W2K3-server, we experience a delay of appr. 5-15 seconds each time we are printing a document. The server farm is running PS 4.0, with all relevant hotfixes. We have also installed a new test server (W2K3) in the farm, with PS 4.5. The behaviour is identical there. There are also a couple of servers in an old farm, running W2K (with PS 4.0), but they don't exhibit this problem.

I right click a document in the application, gets a standard Windows print box, with my default printer shown/highlighted, and click OK. Then I get a 5-15 second delay before the print box exits, and the print job is submitted.

What is interesting, is that this only happens when running as a published application. It doesn't matter whether I run it in full screen, in seamless mode, or whatever. As long as IFS is started as a published app., I get the delay.

However, if I make a custom connection directly to the server, I don't get this delay. And, another interesting point, if I publish a desktop, and access the desktop as a published application, and then start IFS from there, I don't get the problem either.

So, from what I can see so far, if I start IFS from a desktop (also a published desktop), I don't get any delay at all (< 1 sec), but when starting it from a published app., I get this 5-15 seconds delay.

When testing with other applications, e.g. MS Word, I cannot see any delay in printing. I tend to believe that it might be something in IFS' print mechanism that for some reason causes this delay under certain circumstances.

I have checked the command line specs for the published app., I have disabled client printers on my test server, I have recreated the published app. numerous times with various settings, to no avail. Anybody seen this kind of behaviour before, or has any ideas?Start Free Trial
