Browse All TopicsHi Guys,
Heres our setup:
Citrix Metaframe XP running on 2000 servers.
Print servers are windows server 2003 (recently upgraded fomr windows 2000 print servers)
On our citrix servers we are getting a massive amount of system event log entries happening all at the same time (even when the servers are not loaded like at 2 in the morning!). the evens are in excess of 100 and happenin int he space of 3 seconds at what appears to be random intervals. weve seen it happen when the server is loaded and unloaded.
The error is:
Event ID: 22
Source: Print
Failed to ugrade printer settings for printer \\Chigbcprt01\CDSAPTS,Loca
Each event log entry is for a different printer. We dont appear to experience any adverse effects on the server when this happens although i cannot be certain of this. Each citrix server in the farm has the same event logs happening at the same time.
I've searched around but cannot find an answer to this problem.
Any ideas?

If printing is working normal this error can be ignored. Essentially it's telling you your drivers need updating. A resolution would be to do a complete printer/driver cleanup on your Citrix servers.
Start -> Printers and Faxes
Remove all the printers here (you can likely leave any local printer like Adobe or Office XPS printers if you use these as they can be a pain to recreate)
File -> Server Properties
On the Drivers tab remove all the drivers listed here (leaving adobe or Office XPS again if you wish).
Repeat this for every server
Now in an XP farm you have a couple choices to get your drivers back.
1) you can manually add the drivers to one server then using the CMC replicate these drivers to all the other servers in the farm.
2) you can manually add the drivers to every server in your farm
3) you can make sure end users have rights to add printer drivers (this is enabled by default, unless you changed it)
Either way when you add drivers in option #1/2 - make sure you use the same version that you are using on your client workstations and/or file and print servers.
Personally I would suggest doing #1.
