Question

Adobe problem in Citrix

Asked by: AsenathWaite

I am running Citrix Presentation Server 4.5. Users get a Citrix desktop when they log in, but some are experiencing problems with Adobe.

When they attempt to print to a mapped client printer, Adobe hangs, and eventually crashes. We have tried to upgrade the print drivers, and all users are using the latest Citrix client. The remote clients are on a high speed link (3mbs).

This doesn't happen from every machine.

Has anyone experiened a problem like this?

Are there different versions of Acrobat...what is the version on the Citrix server?    Is the Citrix server Acrobat version updated to the latest patches from adobe?

This goes hand in hand with the question(s) above from EndureKona, it's most likely a version issue.

Had the same problem a while back when users were running different versions of Acrobat.  Versions 8 and 9 were running on the machines and the users who had 9 were fine, the users running version 8 were hanging up.  Get all your users on the same version of Acrobat if they are not already.

I ran into this about a year and a half ago that Acrobat 7.1 has issues on a Citrix server.    The client had to upgrade to 8.0   Let me find that article.

Well I was wrong on my notes...found them:

Printing in color that only prints in black and white to the client in  PDF with Citrix is a known issue with Postscript print drivers.      The Citrix server has both Acrobat 7.0 Standard and Acrobat 8.1 Reader install.      This has been resolved in Acrobat 8.1: http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX113551

How to fix:

Under Registered File Extension scroll to PDF and click the Change button and select the Adobe Acrobat 8.1

OR

Right click on the PDF and select Open With&   and select Acrobat 8.1  (the first fix is permanent)

So are you attempting to print in color?
