citrix online plug-in configuration

We have a citrix PS4 box that we've been using successfully using program neighborhood. Citrix, in it's infinite wisdom, quit supporting PN in their 11.2 client release and I can't seem to get it anywhere.

Time for plan B.  I installed/deployed the Web configurator and it created a Metaframe directory under IIS and the published applications seem to work fine via the web page. My problem is that I had to install the "Citrix Online Plug-in - Version 11.2 " on the client in order for Internet Explorer to launch the application.

When starting the plugin on it's own, I get a prompt asking me to specify the server, but when I do, it errors out saying it can't find a file located at http://mycitrixserver/Citrix/PNAgent/config.xml.

I looked at the IIS virtual directory and it had created the following path: http://mycitrixserver/Citrix/Metaframe, with the Update URL as http://mycitrixserver/Citrix/Metaframe/reloadConfiguration.aspx. T

There is no config.xml.  So, I'm either running the wrong client, or I configured the server wrong.

Any suggestions?

The config.xml (which requires a PNA web interface site) is for the Program Neighborhood Agent plugin that you've installed as well; to use the web site with IE, you only need the "Web plug-in"
Uninstall the plugin, reinstall it without the "PNA plug-in", try again.

Thank you for your prompt response.  I made the change at the client and it's working fine.

A following question: At the citrix server I went through the client deployment wizard apparently to create a .cab file. I was assuming that a client, upon access to the website, would be prompted to install an ActiveX control which would install at that point in lieu of manually installing the plug-in. Well.... it does not do that... so what is the client deployment wizard for anyway? did I miss something during the installation?

Another question. What if I don't want to use the web server? Since PN was discontinued, what are my options? How can I get the other plug in working?

Never used the deployment wizard. Note that the basic ActiveX control (the web plugin) doesn't allow for single-sign on to the web interface and starting applications; it's better to install the full client.

Well, since the PN is discontinued, your only option is to use the web interface ...
You get the other plugin working by creating a Program Neighborhood site on the WI server instead of a WI site.
If you require the PN, the last version is still available in Google's cache; unlike the site, the download is currently still working:
