Question

Citrix WI Interface SSL Certificate

Asked by: nimdatx

Hello:
I have a working Citrix XenApp/Secure Gateway WI and I initially installed a Godaddy Wildcard SSL Certificate. I tried to install the Citrix receiver for the iPhone and found that a wildcard cert will not work. I need to reinstall a non-wildcard cert from godaddy and get the Citrix receiver working. Not sure how to reinstall the SSL cert on the WI server.

I have two servers:

Server 2008 Citrix XenApp
Server 2003 Secure Gateway Web interface (WI)

I appreciate anyones help.

Generate the request for a std SSL cert in IIS, purchase and download the new cert, complete the cert request in IIS, rerun CSG setup and select the new cert.

I've decided to move my CSG/WI onto a faster/newier server. All is working, however this is a great time to upgrade my CSG server. I'd like to get steps on to complete this task successfully. I couldn't have completed my first install without your help. The new server will be Server 2008 STD (new install) and this is where I'd like to put my CSG. Do you have any documents on how to accomplish this? Any issues that may come up? What do you recommend? Thanks so much.

Upgrading from 3.0 to 3.1 or 3.1.2 is as easy as downloading and running the file.

I'm going to move CSG/WI on a whole other server. CSG/WI will be reinstalled on another physical server.

My XenApp (Application Server) is on a Window Server 2008 - Working great
My CSG/WI is on a separate server running Windows Server 2003 - Works ok, but I need to upgrade hardware, so decided to invest on a whole new server.

I plan on leaving the XenApp server alone and reinstall CSG/WI on another physical server. I just want to make sure I plan this properly. Not sure what to expect, however you may have experienced this and have a step-by-step guide.

Note: The new physical server I'm going to use for CSG will be WIN Server 2008.

Nope, no step-by-step guide on this process at this time.

I would export the configuration of every site.
Install WI on the new server.
Create site(s).
Import the config file(s).
Test the sites.
Install CSG.
test the sites.

Do you have step by steps on Installing a WI & CSG on a new 2008 server?

How would I export/import the config of every site?

Thanks.

Haven't written the 2008 article for CSG/WI yet.  It is planned.

Too export a site, click a WI site and then in the middle column select Export Configuration (sorry doing that from memory)

Could I use your 2003 article? If so, what are the major differances when configuring and can you send me a link to your 2003 article. I used it before and I cannot seem to find it.

Thanks.

by: CarlWebsterPosted on 2009-11-11 at 11:22:28ID: 25798082

No, you cannot use the 2003 article for 2008.  There are enough differences between IIS6 and IIS7 to make you pull your hair out.

This is my most popular article series I have written.

I hate to ask, but what other articles do you know of that can help me out. I cannot hire support, I'm confident I can figure it out, but I need some how-to's to get me started.

Thanks for your links, I appreciate all your help.

Google for installing an SSL cert on IIS7.

by: nimdatxPosted on 2009-11-11 at 13:06:58ID: 25799065

Do u think I can wing the install using ur 2003 article and when I need to install SSL, I'll find an article for IIS7 and use that to complete the install?

by: CarlWebsterPosted on 2009-11-11 at 13:26:26ID: 25799266

Yep, that should work for the most part.  You will also need to look at the install guide for CSG/WI to see what roles/features of 2008 need to be installed.
