pcAnywhere:  Unable to connect to specified device

Using pcAnywhere 12.1 on an XP machine.  Trying to remote control a computer that I know has the host running.  Keep getting Communications Error:  Unable to connect to specified device.  

This is what I've tried to remedy the problem: IDisabled the Windows firewall and bypassed the hardware firewall by plugging directly into cable modem....still get the same error.

The pcAnywhere Help is useless.
