Question

Start/Stop Remote Services

I have made one service in VB.NET named "EMRx". And write a code in VB 6.0 to access that service.
With current code i am able to START/STOP local services.
Also  I get the status Of remote services with this code.
But i am not able to  Start/Stop remote services.
in err.Lastdllerror i get error code 5

not done this myself other than use the PSEXEC tools from SysInternals, now part of Microsoft.  Some of their code methods may be listed.

It may be easier to make a call to their tool to do the remote stuff.

I used similary code like you in VB6 to start / stop service on remote computer.  It works fine but you do need to have the right to start stop the machine.  
The easiest way to have the rights is to have admin rights on the remote computer. Do you have these rights.
You can also finetune the rights and allow a user to start / stop a specific service. Therefore I have to use regedit to alter the permissions on a service.

to be complete error 5 means access denied so I think this will be a matter of rights.
