Browse All TopicsHi,
I am looking to see if I can connect to work place from my home.
Computer at the Office - Running XP Pro.
Computer at the Home - Running Multi OS (Linux Mint, Linux Fedora, XP Pro, Windows 7)
Laptop - Running XP Home
Aim: To be able to remotely access the office desktop so that I can work on certain files from the house or access applications.
Current setup at the office:
- We have a webserver which is sharing the same IP address as our external IP address.
- That is, if I were to go to "www.whatismyip.com" - It gives me say: 70.184.233.107
- The web server also serves some web pages to us at the same address. (We have to include that IP address in the hosts file)
What I want to do: Be able to connect to computer whose internal IP address is: 10.100.100.115 and the networks WAN IP = 70.184.233.107
What is the best way to do that? I have heard about VNC Clients.
Do I run a VNC server edition on the XP Pro box in the office and connect to it using a VNC Client edition?
If I do so, am I looking to mess up the current network setup at the office?
Thanks in advance.

VNC is slow and not very safe... Try live mesh (www.mesh.com) or LogMeIn (www.logmein.com).
