Ethernet HDD over internet????

I have a Lacie Ethernet disk mini directely connected to my home lan via a Dlink DI-704P router. I want to be able to access all the files on the External HDD from work, without connection through any other computer on my network. I am fairly new at this and have tried port forwarding but cannot seem to get into my network from the internet. Any help would be appreciated. Start Free Trial
