Asked by rccomp in Microsoft Server, Remote Desktop/Terminal Services, Windows Server 2008, Remote Access Software
Client is not running exchange and we just installed a Windows 2008 R2 Terminal server.
I learned the hard way that you are not supposed to store PST files on a network share because it causes the file sharing to just lock up after time due to File handles, etc.
Instead of this configuration, I have setup each user with a Terminal Service Icon that automatically loads Outlook 2003 on the users desktop. This works fine and is a recommended configuration by MS as per
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297019/en-us What is happening, is now the server is still losing its ability to connect to network shares at undetermined times. The weird part is that the server with the PST files has no shares, but looses it ability to connect to the shares on the other server. A quick restart solves the problem for the time being.
What other information can I provide that may lead to an answer?
