I want to access remotely to my customers' computers, which often are behind routers/firewalls. What I need is a very easy solution for them, because most of them are not into computers at all.
I found UltraVNC Single Click (just a *.exe file the customer has to launch, and which doesn't install any program), which works well will UltraVNC Viewer. However the display of the remotes desktops on my computer is very slow. Because I already used it, I know that RealVNC is faster and has a more convenient interface, but I still haven't found any RealVNC Servers that could work in Single Click mode.
I found PcHelpWare as an alternative but it's slow too.
Does anybody know if this Single Click mode exists for RealVNC? Or does anybody know another solution?
I've been on the receiving end of LogMeIn sessions. From a user's perspective, they seem great. Because I (the user) initiate the request to a remote server, it gets through all the firewalls.
And because you (the tech) don't need firewall/vpn configs, it can be sold to your clients as a much safer alternative.
If they are not techies, getting them to leave VNC running is the easiest for you, but does allow for the potential of some very dangerous hacks!
I cannot install VNC server on their computers, because I just cannot go on each single machine (all PC are in different locations and new customers every week). That is the reason why I'm looking for this "single Click" solution.
I'm IT consultant and i receive calls from different people who happened to choose me from many in yellow pages.Right now i have paid solution based on Real VNC. There's a link to .exe file (which is custom built vnc server) on my web.People just download it and run it.It establishes connection to my PC (i run Real VNC listener all the time). It's secure from client point of view, because THEY initiate connection, not me.They don't have to install anything like Logmein. To avoid yearly charge from company who just maintain dns pointing that VNS server to my PC i've found same idea solution for free with UVNC,where i can create my own server, have people to download and run it and have their desktop on y PC with UVNS listener. the problem is picture quality vs what i have with Real VNC. So,if there's another solution comparative with what i have,i'd appretiate for pointing me to it.
They contact you (by phone/email/whatever). You supply them a URL with a specific ID. They run the app from the logmein link. They agree to let you take over. You take over. Add to that a chat window also.
When the session closes there is no footprint on the client machine. The client has to run something. Of course you could use windows built in remote assistance ... not something I've ever tried.

I can see that if you've already got a pre-paid, pre-wrapped VNC server, then you won't want to pay for anything again.
You say the picture quality is not great. Maybe you've got your system set to a different resolution and the client has a greater resolution and your system is shrinking to fit, or your system is showing less colours.
I've used Ultra/Real/Tight vnc and never had a image quality issue. I currently handle around 140 pcs on our lan.
