Browse All TopicsI am trying to write a proposal between Tight VNC and Team viewer for corporate use.
I am trying to write an indepth report on the how it will be used inside the corporate environment and also outside, when our clients are offsite and at home and not connected via VPN or wireless card to the companys network.
I want to know what sort of encryption is going for both Tight VNC and teamviewer.
Look for the pro's and cons of both pieces of software.
Long term affect, will it hinder our clients or enhance the experience and give them more support.
We have alot of moblie workers, that go to the clients sites and sometimes unable to connect back to the network, so remote support is no go and have to advise our staff, they need to come back to the office to look into this matter.
If we used Teamviewer we can connect when a internet connection is avaiable and seems more user friendly.. I am looking for information on all aspects so i can give a informed decision and proposal for long term and pushing forward to flexiablitly ...
if you could assist and guide me with information or point me in the right direction would be eternally greatful

There do seem to be VNC versions that use encryption according to that (I was originally thinking of realvnc and tightvnc, which don't).

The big advantage of either teamviewer or logmein is that you don't have to forward any firewall ports. This makes them much more readily available, also for inexperienced users. They also use at least 128bit encryption, the passwords aren't transmitted in clear text.
VNC doesn't use encryption by itself, you have to use a separate tool for that, like SSH. Also you need to configure the firewalls to forward ports to the machine you want to remote into. Explaining to the customers how to do that can get impossible, particularly if you don't know what they are using, or if other people are managing that part. If there are more PC's to remote into at the same location, this also means you have to change those settings for all those PC's, and you would need to have them use static IP's which you would have to know.
