The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. Cisco VPN client , win XP cant login to domain

ok,
i have a cisco PIx 506e on a network tcp/ip cat5 network.
My problem is using the VPN function.
Its been setup by the resellers and seems fine.
I can use the Cisco VPN client 3.6.3 relk9 on win 98 machines and gain access no problem so it works, but on Windows XP im struggling.
i have a different version of Cisco VPN client (same numbers but for nt, 2000, xp)
My Xp machine is on the domain, so totest it what i do is remove the LAN connection physically and disable the NIC, using dialup and internal modem i test the Cisco VPN client. I can get the cisco client to connect ok but it doesnt allow me access to my domain. At no point am i asked for username and password like i should be. (works fine with a win98 machine)
Another point to mention is when i log on (to XP) (when ive removed the LAN assess) i can either log on to my works LAN domain or log on to just the computer. i dont know what difference this makes.
ive been strugglin for about 2 weeks with this, and its drivein me crazy.
I dont have the XP firewall on. Ive disabled the NIC as you need to for Win 98 (corse rebooted)Start Free Trial
