The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. VPN on Win 2003 from behind linksys and d-link routers.

I have a small server running win 2003 with vpn enabled. The line goes from the server to a linksys BEFSR81 router which has ports 1723, 500, 50 and 51 (all tcp mode) all forwarded to the server. The linksys router is connected to another router, D-link DI-604, which has the same ports forwarded to the linksys router. Finally the D-Link router has a broadband connection, through Shaw, to the internet. The linksys router is DHCP disable and the D-Link is DHCP enabled.

When I try to vpn i get error 721. I've restarted the server and tried again but without sucess.

Please tell me if my setup is correct. Do different routers have to have different ports forwarded? Do I have all the necessary ports forwarded? Is it even possible to do a vpn via two router forwarding? I'm assuming that the connection does reach the server in some way becuase the above error comes up when the login process attempts to verify my username and password.

Please let me know I've been trying to figure this out for ages. Thanks in advance.
