The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Linksys Quick VPN connection to RV042 behind an AG241

Well I guess I was asking for it, trying to propose cheaper solutions to clients, so as not to purchase a pix or 1711 or similar.  But it's come back to bite me, big time.

Basically I have the dreaded Linksys Quick VPN software trying to connect to an RV042, to explain...

XP client -> NAT Router / 3G Card / other methods -> Internet -> AG241 -> RV042 .

We've tried everything we can think of.  We know the RV042 works fine when it's on a cable connection and it's the first device and it's internet connection is connected directly to the internet.  In this scenario the AG241 is the internet router on PPPoE ATM ADSL - It's outside is the static address.  It's inside is 10.10.1.254 and the outside of the RV042 is 10.10.1.254.  Inside is 192.168.0.x .  So we're double natting.

I've pretty much pinpointed the issue to being the AG241 -> RV042 section.  I can't see anywhere to enable nat transversal like on a PIX.  The client hangs on the Verifying Network stage.

We've tried lots of things, mainly suggestions from DocLarge on various forums, but no go.

AG241 has firewall turned off, all passthrough to the RV042.    We can't use bridge mode, we have tried.

At this point I'm rueing putting in lots of RV042's instead of pixes.  At least with the pixes I could see exactly what was going on.
