The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

VPN issue with windows server 2003

Asked by bjctennistec in Virtual Private Networking (VPN)

Here is my problem: i have 2 servers set up and am wanting to be able to connect the two networks through VPN. Server 1 is connected directly to the DSL modem and uses RRAS for vpn and a router to the internal network. It has RRAS, DHCP, DNS, WINS, and AD installed. It has 2 NIC's, one connecting to the internal network w/ ip address 192.168.1.109 and one NIC connected to the DSL modem.

My other server (server 2) is connected behind a linksys wireless router (not sure on the model, but a general wireles g router) which is then connected to a Cable modem. The ip address of the router is 192.168.1.1 and the server's is 192.168.1.2. I have port forwarding set up on the linksys router for ports 47, 50, 500, 1723 and a couple more that point to the server. Server 2 also has RRAS and DNS.

Now my situations is i can vpn successfully from server 2 to server 1 but once connected i cannot ping server 1's network or the internal ip of 192.168.1.109 and vice versa. I have tried to vpn to server 1 from another location with just a desktop connected directly to the internet w/ no firewall, just a direct connection and i was able to vpn and successfully ping and communicate w/ the remote network. So i have bacicly found my problem is probably with server 2's network that needs help.  So i am wondering what i am missing here to get the two networks to communicate.

Any help would be gladly appricated.Start Free Trial
