The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

setting up a Linksys WRV54G with a Netopia 3346N-002 DSL router

I have a new SBC DSL connection and a new Linksys WRV54G. My LAN is a SBS2003 with 5 clients and Exchange 2003.

I called my ISP SBC DSL and asked for a static public IP so I can creat a relay to my Exchange server. I also have my MX record ponting to a SBC DSLmodem and the Linksys was set as DHCP for WAN connection to the modem. After asking for a static public IP a tech. should up and left me a Netopia router 3346N-002 and said I'd have to use this unit so I can have a sticky IP.

I swapped out the modem for this Netopia router and had to use a Staic public IP on the Linksys in order to get internat connection. The tech gave me two public IP's xx.xxx.xx.54 and xx.xxx.xx.49 the Netopia is using .54 and the Linksys is using the .49. with the .54 as gateway and I'm also using the DNS the tech. gave me

I want to be able to setup my linksys to forward SMTP port 25 to my Exchange server for mail delivery. My MX records are pointing to .54 and this does not work, I can send mail but I cannot recive. I cannot change the Linksys to static IP .54 because it is being used on the Netopia and if I run the Linksys as DHCP I can't get a Internet connection. I think what I need is to setup the Netopia as a bridge to the Linksys and have the Linksys use .54 so I can do my relays to the Exchange server and have Internet connection. Does anyone know if this is correct and how would you do this?Start Free Trial
