The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. More VPN help please (WRV54G)

Hi,

I have finally setup my wrv54g for gateway to gateway connection. Put the configuration as per explained by one of the experts (thanks again RobWil). the configuration of my wrv54g:

office A
IPSec/L2TP/PPTP passthrough : disabled
VPN Tunnel :disabled
VPN Gateway : enabled
Local Secure Group : 192.168.1.0
Remote Secure Group : 192.168.2.0
Remote Secure Gateway : 144**** (static IP in office B)
Encryption : DES
Authentication : MD5
PFS : disabled
preshared key : somepresharedkey
key lifetime : 3600

office B
IPSec/L2TP/PPTP passthrough : disabled
VPN Tunnel :disabled
VPN Gateway : enabled
Local Secure Group : 192.168.2.0
Remote Secure Group : 192.168.1.0
Remote Secure Gateway : FQDN (dyndns dynamic DNS / DDNS enabled in office B)
Encryption : DES
Authentication : MD5
PFS : disabled
preshared key : somepresharedkey
key lifetime : 3600

Both are set to keep alive

I was managing office A from office B (remote management enabled, so i dont have to go back and forth between offices)

I thought the connection will be automatically initiated and connected once the above configurations are set. However
I couldn't see that both routers are connected. I tried to click on connect (the button right at the bottom of the configurations), however once settings are saved the VPN tunnel is automatically enabled and status is now WAITING FOR CONNECTION. This happenned with both routers.

I can't ping the office A from office B and likewise so I presume it is not connected at all.

nb:
In office B I am using DLINK G604t Modem router in BRIDGED mode while in office A I am using plain ADSL modem

Could someone please give me some direction?
