The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

excessively long login times at head office - up to 20 + mins.

I have a client that is running SBS2003 server acticing as primary domain controller at head office, they have 2 locations, and have a server2003 at the 2nd location, acting as a DC for 3-5 users.  Exchange is running at head office.  The are using a single mybusiness.local domain structure.  There is a single DNS running at head office.

Head office subnet 192.168.10.0/24 and remote office 192.168.11.0/24

The client reported that they were experiencing excessively long login times at head office - up to 20 + mins.  This does not appear to be a problem at the remote office however.  I set up ethereal on both servers and tested a head office cliet login.

It appears that the client is sending login traffic to the remote office, not the head office.
Head office
DNS
DHCP for 192.168.10.0/24
WINS entry has the DC entry with both 192.168.10.1 and 192.168.11.1 server ip addresses
Active directory is replicating successfully between servers.

The VPN between the sites is established using CISCO 877 routers.

I have set the clients to use tcp for kerberos   per : http://support.microsoft.com/?id=244474

any ideas on how to speed up logins?
