The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Connecting to a VPN for dummies.....

Asked by DoC352 in Virtual Private Networking (VPN), Windows XP Operating System, SBS Small Business Server

Tags: , ,

I'm runing RRAS on my Windows SBS 2003 machine to provide VPN access to my Windows XP Pro clients.  I'm looking for a way to simplify the process of connecting to the VPN and mapping network drives to either a process that runs on startup, or a single icon to click once the computer has started.

Basically I want to idiot proof the whole process of connecting to the VPN and mapping the network drives, because although I can do it manually every time I need to get something off the network, I know most of my users don't have the slightest clue about mapping network drives or finding network shares that aren't already mapped for them.  And they definitely don't know how to connect their computers to the VPN.

It would be good if this system didn't have to prompt the user for their username and password, and could somehow use the credentials that were used to log on to the local machine.  Also a simple way to disconnect would be good, although I think I could probably manage to walk them through the process of disconnecting the VPN via the icon in the system tray....

I don't know if this is even possible, so if I'm asking way too much, feel free to tell me....Start Free Trial
