I have a laptop user who can't connect via Outlook 2003 to his SBS 2003 Exchange when coming across a VPN. He has WinXPSP2 and Office 2003 on his laptop. Both fully patched.
1. When he uses his laptop while in his office (not over the VPN), Outlook 2003 works perfectly wired and wireless.
2. While offsite using the VPN he's able to log into the SBS server just fine, upload and download files, use Word and Excel, map out drives, etc. with no problems. He can also browse on the internet, and get to OWA on the server, connect and that works fine too.
3. We created his profile on two other laptops and used Outlook 2003. On both other laptops we created him as a user, connected from offsite via the VPN, and Outlook 2003 worked perfectly.
4. We tried wired and wireless connections. We ran a detect and repair on Outlook. We disabled all add-ons. We've built and rebuilt his VPN tunnel. We used the exact same VPN setup files for the two other laptops that we also tested and which worked fine.
5. As another test, we also created other users and other Outlook profiles on his laptop. When going through the Control Panel to set up an Outlook profile on his laptop, you are point at the server via IP and it populates the server name and and user name perfectly. However, after creating the profile, when you try to go to the server, you get "(0x8004011D) The server is not available. Contact your administrator if this condition persists.
