unix firewall

Hi

we have a unix based server which acts as a firewall. i want to allow a range of ip addresses to pass through the firewall when people acees the network through vpn.

i am not that familiar with unix codes. after i log in i get the firewall# mode. i entered ls and i got list of directories. can you please help me how to enter into those file structures and what are the commands for making the ip addressess to pass through.
