Cisco VPN Client and Vista 64bit Help Please
Hi all,
I have recently got new HP laptop and I have decided to install Vista 64bit on it, I have managed to get everything working apart from the Cisco VPN my question is as follow:
Is there Cisco VPN compatible with Vista 64bit or anything does the same job as Cisco VPN and its compatible with Vista 64bit, I know I could install virtual PC and use XP Pro to do the job but I would like to leave that to last if there is no other solutions!
Any Help will great guys please

Thank you for your reply, I am using the 64bit for few reasons
1st I would like to test it in our support environment and test the compatibles with all the software we are using and report back to the team.
2nd it run a lot faster than 32bit vista as I been using the 32bit version for over 5 months so I know the different.
3rd Office 2007 run a lot faster believe it or not specially outlook.
3rd this might sound bit sad but UI looks a lot nicer J
The Cisco VPN Client is not compatible with Vista 64-bit.

Maybe this will work for you but not sure on the 64Bit....
I noticed that Cisco VPN client version 5.0.03 is not quite ready for vista.
I went back to use Cisco VPN client version 5.0.01.0600-k9.
I found that version 5.0.03 does not update my VPN DNS entries for starters....and that was a pain!!!
Once I reinstalled 5.0.01 I was well on my way....
Well, I hope that 5.0.01 will work on the 64 Bit version of Vista for you as I have not tried it myself.
I had this problem since long time now. I can assure that on Cisco side there in not even the fantasy to develop a 64-bit client and till yesterday I was forced to use a virtual machine for that.
Luckily now there is a client from SonicWall that is working fine either on XP and Vista 64 but I cannot have it run on 2008. I cannot post it because is this a beta but search on the net for GVC64_v411_b302
it's a client. i don't see any trouble with copyright. furthermore is seem very similar to the one on their public web site http://help.mysonicwall.co
that's the one I'm using succesfully also on Win2008-64bit http://www.4shared.com/dir
I connect daily to several VPN and it worked almost on all of them. just in a couple of cases it was necessary to do something on the VPN concentrator but I don't know more details on this. sorry.

I looked at the AnyConnect but it was not really what I was looking for.
I wanted something that was going to talk to my Cisco boxes....including my pix
If we are really lucky....Cisco might one day have a VPN client available for 64bit.
After breaking my head over this issue and discussing with some of my mates at Cisco there was no light in sight.
Then I came across the following company.
I tried their software and it worked!!!
The really neat part was that it can import the Cisco VPN client profiles....nifty!!!
So go ahead check it out and spread the word!!!

Just keep in mind that the version available for download that I got had a small glitch but they did fix it.

The AnyConnect vpn client is X64 compatible for 2.2.0140 version of the deployable client. The issue I have is that for some reason HP laptops are giving me the most head aches. I have a mixture of HP and Dell and all the Dells deploy just fine, but all, and I mean all the HP laptops always have trouble connecting via VPN. "vpnagent service failed to start" "VPN client agent was unable to crea" I especially like that error that I can see the whole dialog. On both XP, Vista x86 and Vista x64 mixtures, all the Dell's...bulletproof...all

To add.. www.ncp-e.com is great, but it costs money. Shrew VPN works just as well (32 and 64 bit) and it is free. Theannoying thing on Shrew VPN is that you can not save user password.

Can not fault you on the fact that it costs money...
There is however a problem. Several companies believe that when they pay for something, it is either more secure or stable then the free version.
Being an open source supporter, I would gladly go the route of free/open source but sometimes one is not in charge of the fiddle.
But thanks for the info on the Shrew!!!! I am going to have a look at it and will post my comments later.
