Cannot Connect to Shared drive over VPN

Asked by pc_helper in Virtual Private Networking (VPN), Windows Networking

I am having problems connecting over VPN to a shared drive. Both VPN NIC and computer with share are running Server 2003 R2. Both computers are on the same class C subnet. When I VPN in I can connect to the share by connecting to IP_Address/share but not by computer_name/share. The VPN connection has no firewall on it. Both Servers connect to the network through a Linksys BEFSR81 8 port wired router. I do not run any VPN software aside from what MS provides with Server 2003.
