The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Client VPN sends but won't receive

The WAN Miniport (PPTP) connects and authenicates without error to the 2003 SBS from the XPP client.  Both the server and client are fully updated.  I can see the connection moving bytes in the Status window.  When I dbl click on a shortcut to a shared resource on the server I get the above error.  When this client is wirelessly connected in the main office it opens this shortcut without error.  internet access works fine on the client.
Here's the other strange thing.  We use Symantec's new Endpoint Protection software.  This XPP client was setup as managed.  The software sends out a "heart beat" every 5 minutes in an effort to communicate with the managed server.  When that happens a small green dot with a checkmark in it appears on the icon in the systray.  Within 5 minutes of connecting the VPN the green dot is there.  Further, the client was successfully updated with virus definitions dated today!?!?!?!
I'm sure we're talking across the VPN, I just can't access any of the shared resources.
If I try \\servername\shared resource I receive "Windows cannot find '\\servername\shared resource'. Check the spelling and try again . . .".
Other VPN's to other servers are working OK.  I know I've been staring at this for to long and I'm probably missing something simple.
Thanks in advance for your help!
