The remote gateway is not responding

Tags: Linksys, 4 port VPN Firewall, RVS4000

I have installed a RSV4000 router at my office and I am trying to connect to it from my home using the QuickVPN client.

I have updated the firmware on the router to the latest and downloaded the last QuickVPN Client.
My Lan IP at the office is 192.168.2.*
My Lan IP at hom is 192.168.20.*

I can ping a machine name but get the reoccurring message "The remote gateway is not responding" from the VPN client. I also cannot find any computer on that network or ping by IP address on that network.

I hated to post this since I saw so many post out there regarding this and there could be an answer to this in one of those post but I didn't find anything that was the exact same situation.

It seems that with setting up VPN before using the WIndows VPN I ran into something with the host file lmhost where you had to put in the ip address of the computer that you wanted to connect to and the name but I don't know if that has anything to do with this. Does any one have an idea what is the problem here?Start Free Trial
