Been trawling search engine for a simple answer to what I though was a simple question.
What permissions does a local user require to be able to create VPN connections? also for domain user but I'm guessing they're pretty similar and do you have a way of scripting same.
Nope, while registered on domain once a member of 'Network configuration operators' tehy can create connections. If the machine has not been joined to domain members of this group can not create vpn connection.
I need to be able to allow non domain machines local users create vpn connections. Anyone else know the rights required?
I am having a similar problem and the solutions offered don't work. We have a domain that allows remote access and VPN connections. Workstations on our domain are not allowed to create or use a VPN. Outside computers have no problem creating a VPN. We now have a laptop that has joined the domain and must travel and be able to remote in through the VPN. The laptop will only allow the local or domain admin account to create or use the VPN. All other user accounts on the laptop are not allowed to use the connection or create one, even if added to the local machines admin group.
A policy on the domain must be preventing this but I can't be sure which one. Can anybody help with this?
