Hello,
I need to assign a client a static IP address when they log in via their Cisco VPN client. I understand that MAC address based assignments will not work via Cisco VPN Concentrator. Unfortunately, in my environment, users are authenticated by Active Directory via the Cisco VPN Concentrator. There has to be a way to do this. Is there a unique identifier that could be used? I believe it would be possible to assign a specific IP address to a user based on their username. However, the issue with this is that if they log into their workstation at work (which uses the same Windows Server for Active Directory), the would get a static IP address that would not work on their workstation at the office.
I see one solution as either having a separate Active Directory Windows server for the same username or assigning a different username when they log in via VPN. However, if they use a different username, the run into the issue where they won't have access to their e-mail.
Any other ideas would be great....
Thanks,
Martin
