How do I print to a share printer while workstation is VPN to a remote office

I have two offices in the same state different locations
Problem:
1 - I have an XP workstation with a USB printer attached and is shared out so that other users in the office can print to it. Everyone in the local office can print just fine, but when I VPN into the remote office, no one can print to the printer and I cannot ping the printer. How can I get this to work?
2 - However; I can only print to the printer in question from the workstation that the printer is directly plug into. In other words I can print just fine from the workstation where the printer is plug in via USB port whether it's local or vpn.
