Linksys router suddenly stops working with PPTP VPN
Tags: Linksys, Router, WRT54G, v5 Latest firmware
So the weirdest thing..  Up until today, I was able to VPN into a new SBS 2003 server.  The last thing that changed about 2 days ago was getting a reverse pointer set up for Exchange.  As of about 24 hours ago, VPN has semi-stopped working and gives an error.

It has something to do with a Linksys router, either at my end, the servers end, or both.  Both routers are updated to their latest firmware (just recently in troubleshooting this problem).

If I bypass the Linksys router at home and go directly into the Cable Modem, the VPN works.

I also tested it out on another network that uses a Sonicwall Firewall + DSL, and that works too.

But at my home, using this Linksys Router over Comcast cable, I get an error 619 as of Today when I try to establish a MS PPTP VPN.  It hangs up at Verifying Username and Password.  Again, if I go directly into the modem, it works -- and VPN Passthrough is set correctly on the routers.  The port forwarding on the servers end is fine, obvious if it works in other scenarios.

I have also tried connecting to the direct public IP of the  SBS Server and I've tried the Public DNS name as well.

Ideas??

Just to be on the safe side do you have another PC you can try the pptp connection from behind your linksys. Also can you try deleting and recreating the pptp on your laptop?
