My Cisco VPN client(v5.0.02.0900) is failing with 'Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding ' when I use my laptop with Windows Vista Business edition, and Linksys WAG54GS router (firmware v.1.01.01). I never get a password prompt.
I CAN connect using the same VPN client, same laptop, but over another network -> suggests problem is not with the laptop.
I CAN connect using a Cisco VPN client on my Mac over my Linksys WAG54GS router -> suggests the problem is not with the router.
So there seems to be a problem with the specific combination of my router and Vista. I have tried restoring factory defaults on the router ensuring IPSec passthrough is enabled, and disabled UPnP and firewall (on both router and Vista).
Any suggestions of other checks or changes I should make? I'm considering upgrading router firmware as next step.
