Cisco 1841 and 1721 reduce download speed on ADSL2+

I manage several ADSL lines for a college and am changing slowly to ADSL2+ from Bethere.
I am using the bebox (thompson speedtouch) in bridged mode and the cisco routers with two ethernet cards and routing beteween the 2.

I can attach my PC directly to the BBox and get 17Mb's download and 1.8Mb's up. Great.

If I run it via the cisco my speeds plummit to approx 3 to 5Mbit's. That's awfull.

I can't see why there is this much overhead. The 1841 Ethernet cards are both running at 100Mb's.

Does anyone have any experience with Cisco routers causing this problem.

TIA
