I have a new linksys RV042 VPN Router and I want to set up a simple VPN so that I can connect via my laptop when I am out of the office and access files/network resources, I have the RV042 setup and working as far as a gate way, and I have enabled the PPTP server, however no matter what combination I try of firewall settings, including disabling the firewall entierly I cannot seem to connect from an external connection, when I attempt to connect from and an outside connection using the Windows XP vpn client, it gets to "verifying the username and password, and them comes up with en errorr saying that I cannot connect.....
I can connect no probmes if I set the vpn client to access the internal IP address of the router while I can connected to my local netowrk, but if I ask it to connnect to the external IP address, while connected either to my local network, or any other connect outside the office, I get the same issue......
any ideas?
