He has an office network.
The server in his office network is named "server".
When VPN-ed, he runs a database program that connects to the server.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY:
When he VPN's into his network from a local restaurant providing wireless, BN works correctly.
When he VPNs into his network from his HOME network, where he has Time Warner, BN fails.
It fails whether he VPNs (at home) cabled or wireless.

Summary: The resolutioin of "server" fails.
--------------------------
We've discovered what is going on - but we don't know where to begin, to fix it.
His office server is called "server".
When he Pings "server" at the office, or at the coffeeshop, Ping correctly resolves to his office server - and the database program works fine.
When he Pings "server" during VPN at home, "server" resolves to a machine in San Diego, CA. His office is in New York.
Thank you

Can you ping 'server' by IP? If not make sure the local network and the business network do not use the same subnet such as both using 192.168.1.x They must be different for routing to take place.
