Question

Cisco VPN client problems Via asa 5505

Asked by: WillMcDoanld

ok heres my setup;
DSL modem connected to an asa 5505 then 4 workstations connected to the asa.

the clients were able before to connect to my primary network via Cisco vpn client, then they were not anymore. so for trouble shooting i removed the asa from the picture and had 1 client connect directly to the dsl modem and vwala! vpn client  connected just fine.

currently the VPN client will authenticate with my network but will not pass traffic.

below is the asa 5505 config.

Hang on

What VPN client are you using to access the firewall from? you dont seem to have a group policy for Remote Access -and  your remote vpn pool seems to be on the same as your local subnet?

When you use the Cisco VPN client what are you entering in in the name and password http://www.petenetlive.com/Tech/Firewalls/Cisco/c2gvpn/00018.jpg

by: WillMcDoanldPosted on 2009-09-01 at 08:48:05ID: 25232797

ok my main office which allows remote VPN from the cisco client works just fine. example user/pass

svtnsg\user
password

when the remote building uses the client and use the example user/pass it authenticates with my AD and connects. but fails to pass data can not connect to file server exchange. but remove the asa5505 from the picture at remote building and slap a netgear or just staight dsl everything works just fine

by: PeteLongPosted on 2009-09-01 at 09:16:20ID: 25233098

OK so your esablishing a VPN THROUGH the ASa at the remote office?

you need to open protocol 50 - esp (the hint is in the error message above :)

access-list inside_access_in extended permit esp any any

you may also need to add

policy-map global_policy
class inspection_default
inspect ipsec-pass-thru
