I am running WG Firebox with SSL VPN that is connecting to our corp office internet T1 (1.45 meg pipe).
We are running into performance issues. I don't know if I have enough bandwidth to support my remote users.
Could you please tell me how much bandwidth I need to allocate per user?
Web traffic is not being forced through the tunnel, just email (exchange) and access to files through mapped drives. Browsing mapped drives seems to be what is performing the worst - anytime you access a folder you get the flashlight for 10-20 seconds.

So you are saying only map the drives that you are actively using? That makes sense - I think every time you open/attach a file it polls all of the drives.
We have about 35 users here in the office. They all have VPN access if they are travelling our out sick. On Friday there were 6 connected.
Here is the speed test report @ lunch time with only 2 VPN users connected. I'll try it again this afternoon and post that as well.

Yes, in regard to mapping. Programs like MS Office will really be delayed in opening opening folders if the mapped drives are not present.
The issue is you upload speed. 710 up for all users. The VPN itself doesn't require much, 33k. The issue is transferring data. Assuming your VPN connection gets 128Kbps, it would take about 1 minute to transfer the file from the server to the PC.
The other issue is Latency. This is always a factor with VPN connections.
You can test the VPN connection with this:
Make sure your VPN is up first.
Download Iperf

Server side:
$ iperf -s -V
Client:
$ iperf -c <server address> -I <<< The server IP should be THE PRIVATE IP INSIDE THE VPN.
This will test base TCP performance inside the tunnel.
I have a Firebox Core Series 550e. I am working on getting the end users to report issues to me over the next few weeks so I can see how much traffic is on the box when the performance of VPN is slow.
Do you know if VPN bandwidth is recorded on the bandwidth meter? or is that just internal users using the internet connection?

Transferring data over mapped drives is going to be an issue over a VPN with that speed.
Are all of the mapped drives active over the VPN. If not remove the ones that are not necessary.
How many users are connecting?
How many internal users are also using the T1?
