Asked by higs22vu in Virtual Private Networking (VPN), Windows Vista, Networking Protocols
I am trying to setup a VPN host on my Windows Vista Machine through a linksys router. I have already setup my system to accept incoming connections and configured the IP address assignment window using IP addresses in the same subnet as the VPN server PC. I have the router setup to allow PPTP VPN access and forwarded all traffic on TCP Port 1723 to my computers static IP address, being 192.168.1.101. When I try to connect to the network on an outside computer, I receive an error 800 saying that it was unable to establish a VPN connection. The host name that I am using is the modems IP address, assigned by comcast. Is there something that I am overlooking that would prevent this from working?
