The solution wasn't what I was looking for, but did help me define the parameters and come up with an alternate solution.

Browse All TopicsHello. I'm looking for a way to better secure information I pass over the internet. I travel often in foreign countries. I'd prefer a secure connection to a remote server and a US IP address. I've been trying to set up an account with StrongVPN, but am having some difficulties. I found it odd that their instructions included disabling my anti-virus software and User Account Control. Is this normal to install a VPN client or might this be an attempt to gain access to my computer? Can anyone point me in the right direction of a good service? Thanks.

From what I could tell Hamachi required an existing network (home or business) which I could connect to with their VPN client. I was simply looking for secure VPN connection to a proxy server that would give me a US IP address. I don't want my traffic monitored and some of the sites I'm using right now block non-US IP's. Did I miss something with Hamachi? Thanks for the help.
