Browse All TopicsI have a client that has 4 PCs office with installed proprietary high-end software (very expensive) on one of the PCs. The goal is to build the VPN for remote user (a single laptop) who must access and run the software located on this PC from another state through the encrypted channel.
Existing components:
- Verizon DSL modem (already in the bridge mode)
- Linksys 8-port Router/Switch BEFSR41
-Check Point Safe@Office UTM firewall ( 5 users license).
Now, all 4 users are accessing Internet trough the Linksys router/switch. They are connected in P-2-P network and no server is present. Since the software is very expensive and the information is sensitive (health care), I am planning to utilize Check Point firewall for VPN remote access trough SecuRemote client software (installed on a laptop) and SecuRemote VPN server configured on the firewall. Also, I need to be able to use the SSH to manage the firewall/network remotely.
Since I am not very familiar with this particular firewall, the questions are:
1) How to properly connect the PCs/router/firewall so the VPN access will be possible? Should I use DMZ or should I cascade the VPN access (DSL --> Linksys--->Firewall-->PC)?
2) How to properly configure all components (NAT, IPs, encryption, SSH, firewall rules step-by-step)?
3) How to avoid the 5-user license limitation since the firewall counts 1 license for any piece of hardware connected to its 4 Ethernet ports?
4) Other ideas?
Please keep in mind that all PC users should be able to access each others computers.
