Cisco System VPN Client 5.0.07.0290 Setup installation issues(WinVistax86) Business Edition

Dear all,

I came across issue while installing  Cisco VPN client in Winvista 32bit system which is annoying.

Let me tell you the situation:

1. After fresh installation of OS, installed VPN client which worked fine for few months.
2. Later like after 2 months, VPN client stopped working.
3. Un Installed VPN client and tried installing again to fix the issue.
4. Installation works fine around 90% but at the end it gives the error saying "Error 27848. Network Component installation requires a reboot first, to free locked resources. Run this install again after restarting the computer".
5. I fixed above issue by applying following command from cmd mode "regsvr32 /u dneinobj.dll" which fixed the above error.
6. Tried running setup again which gave different error this time"Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor"
7. Installer what I installed is the same and it is working one which is running fine in other systems without any issues.

I googled about this issue, there are lot of response says it could be because of Corrupt OS files.

Tried all possibilities i could do and take a look at screen shots of error.

Help me out with this issue, awaiting your reply!

Thanks!

Hello;

Sometimes (even with new machines) there are problems at the client’s installation.
like i saw you fixed the first problem.
now with the 1722 Error : Sometimes all you need to do is re-register the windows installer service and everything is fixed. So you might want to try this step first before proceeding to the ultimate solution of the problem.
Click on the start menu , the start search box for Vista and type in “Msiexec /unregister“
Do the same thing with this command “Msiexec /regserver“.

If the solution above did not resolve your problem then you can go ahead and install the latest and stable version of windows installer. Follow steps below:
- Download the latest Windows installer 4.5 from the Microsoft’s website.
- Follow the instructions and download and install the windows installer file according to your system requirements.
- Once installation is finished, restart your computer.
- After the restart make sure the windows installer service is running. Just go to the start menu, use the “start search” box and type in “services.msc“. When you are in the services window look for the windows installer service and make sure that it is started. If not then make sure that the startup type is set to “Automatic” and start the service.
- After doing all the steps, continue installing/uninstalling your software. It should work by now.

Regards;
Let is Know about it :)

Hey AhmedHERMI,

I tried above steps suggested by you, issue still remains the same... :(

apart from the Cisco VPN client I tried other VPN installer called Shrew but even that is also failing while creating Virtual Adapter.

I think I am stuck at the Virtual adapter installation. I guess it could be related to corrupted LAN drivers but I am not sure because the normal LAN works fine without any issues. will give a try anyways.

FYI..

I have Windows Installer 4.5.

Anymore suggestion?

Thanks! :)

yes it's true the problem is within Virtual adapter installation. Ok let's try a basic troubleshooting :)
The 1722 error is an generic code for an MSI action failure. In this case, as revealed in the MSI log, the Virtual Adapter installer has failed. Therefore, you need to check whether this registry key is present or not: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce.

let me know
By the way , have u uninstalled the windows installer and reinstall it ?
Here you go..
I found the the default key with no value for it.

-> No - I didn't uninstall the Windows Installer, I downloaded the windows installer 4.5 when you asked to try the first time, during the installation it showed error that this installation will not support you system so checked version and found that I already updated copy of Windows Installer.

do you want to me try re installing it now?
ok, let's do this, i remember once i had a problem with Office 2007, i uninstalled it and after i had a problem with installing Office 2010.
so i downloaded Microsoft Uninstaller cleanup utility and i found that the software was not uninstalled and i did the necessary with this tool.
So before doing any thg, download this tool and check if the Cisco VPN client was uninstalled correctly or not.
@AhmedHERMI

No bro, none of the things are working.. again..:(
